Q: What are the system requirements for the ClickView Library Server?
A: The recommended system specifications can be found at the following address:

Q: To which location should the ClickView Library Server be installed?
A: Ideally ClickView Library Server should be installed under your Program Files directory (which is the default selection).

This will generally be C:\Program Files\ClickView\ClickView Library\

The storage location of your video data can be relocated to another location after installation.

Q: How much free disk space does the initial installation of ClickView Library Server require?
A: ClickView recommends that you have at least 300GB of free space on your ClickView Library Server as each hour of stored video will occupy 400MB of disk space.

Q: Can I use any other applications on the computer whilst the ClickView Library Server is operating?
A: Yes, however due to the large amount of processing and data transfer that can occur, it is not recommended to use ClickView concurrently with other server applications as they may be interrupted.

NETWORK ISSUES
Q: How can a network be optimised for the ClickView Library Server?
A: To get the most of ClickView it is recommended to install ClickView Library Server on a computer which will be used specifically for serving digital videos. Furthermore, the local-area network should be segmented with switches such that if a ClickView lesson sub-server is created, the ClickView data traffic will be localised to the classroom network switch.

Q: Will ClickView function properly on a wireless network?
A: Yes, however ClickView recommends the use of fixed network connections for optimal performance. The video format used by ClickView is of near DVD-quality, and as a wireless network is not well equipped to handle large volumes of data, ClickView recommends keeping wireless video downloads to a minimum.

Q: Does ClickView Library Server have support for multiple network cards on the one computer?
A: Yes, ClickView Library Server supports as many network cards as the computer's operating system permits. Instructions for configuring ClickView Library Server on a computer with multiple network connections can be found at:

Q: ClickView Library Server console is open however the ClickView Players cannot access it. What could be the problem?
A: Check that the ClickView Library Server is online. The Library Server status is displayed in the bottom left. To turn on the ClickView Library Server, click on the File menu, then on Start Library Server. If the ClickView Library is online, and it still cannot be accessed, try the following knowledgebase article:

Q: ClickView Library Server reports that it is online however the ClickView Player still cannot access it. What could be the problem?
A: Ensure that the ClickView Library Server computer is connected to the network, and that there are no firewalls active which may be preventing data from reaching the computer. Also check that the ClickView Players are connecting to the correct IP address. The server's IP address can be found by clicking on File/Display Library Server Details. To solve this problem, please refer to the following support article:

Q: How do I move a folder or video to a new location within the ClickView Library Server?
A: To move a folder or video, right click on the folder or video that you want to move, and click on Move. In the window that will pop up, select which folder you want to move to and click OK.

Q: In which location is the ClickView Library Server's data stored?
A: By default, this data is stored under in the \Files\, \Images\, \Audio\, \LearningObjects\, \Resources\ and \CoverImages\ directories in the ClickView Library folder in the Program Files directory (where the ClickViewServerService.exe core is stored).

Q: ClickView Library Server indicates that a particular resource file is of an unknown format, but the file can be opened on my computer. Will the ClickView Player running on other computers be able to open it?
A: If the file type is supported by the computer that is running ClickView Player then it will be able to open the file. ClickView uses the default application that is associated with that type of file on the operating system. Therefore if it can be opened outside of ClickView Player, it can be opened from within. Otherwise, simply right-click on the resource and select 'Save As..'

Q: How long does my free trial of ClickView last?
A: ClickView Library Server is fully functional for 30 days. After this 30 day trial period you must purchase a licence if you wish to continue using the ClickView software. Please contact ClickView if a trial period extension is required.

Q: What do I do if I want to change our licence type or licence details?
A: Please contact ClickView if you wish to change your details or to obtain a new ClickView Library Server licence key.

Q: Where should ClickView Player be installed?
A: Ideally ClickView Player should be installed under your Program Files directory, however any other fixed-disk location is also adequate.

Q: How much free disk space does ClickView Player require?
A: ClickView Player occupies approximately 16MB of space on the local hard disk. However, to ensure that caching problem do not occur, a minimum of 200MB of free disk space is recommended.

GENERAL USAGE
Q: What happens if two computers start the same lesson?
A: The computer that started the lesson last will be set as the sub-server where all the requests will be forwarded to.

Q: When I try to edit a lesson, I cannot change the password. Why?
A: This has been disabled for security reasons. If you would like to change your password, it can be done through the ClickView Library Manager.

Q: Whilst viewing a video in fullscreen mode, my video controls often disappear. Where do they go?
A: Whilst in fullscreen mode, moving the mouse cursor to the bottom of the screen will display the video controls. If the video controls still do not appear, simply press the Escape key and then return to fullscreen mode.

Q: Why can’t I open any video files outside of ClickView?
A: Any video file added to the ClickView Library Server is encrypted to protect the video's copyright owner, and as such, can only be viewed from within ClickView.

Q: Is there a Mac version of ClickView Player?
A:

A Mac OS X version of the ClickView Player is available as a free download from the ClickView website. The ClickView Player for Mac OS X setup file and installation instructions can be obtained from the downloads page.


Q: Is the Mac OS X version of ClickView Player be compatible with the Windows version of ClickView Library Server and ClickView Player?
A: Yes. All ClickView communication is operating system independent. This means that ClickView Library Server for Windows can seamlessly serve video to ClickView Player for Apple Mac OS X.
