This article explains how to configure the ClickView Library Server for use with a NAS (Network Attached Storage) device to store the ClickView Digital Video Library.

Note: This article assumes that the ClickView Library Server data files have already been relocated to the network location using the 'ClickView Data Management Utility'. Instructions on how to do this can be found under the 'Altering the Storage Location of your ClickView Library Server Data' section of the following knowledgebase article.

Step 1 - Adjusting ClickView Library Data location Settings

On the system running the ClickView Library Server please go to 'Start > Run' and type in ' Regedit' and click 'OK'

This will now open the Windows Registry Editor and please browse to the following folder, HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE > SOFTWARE > ClickView > ClickView Library

In the ClickView Library folder you will see 2 String Values titled 'remoteDataPath' and 'DataPath'

Double click on the 'DataPath' String and change the 'String Data' to the location of the Data Files on your Network Drive/NAS ( it must be the Full UNC Path i.e. \\NAS\ClickViewData\ )

Click 'OK' to continue and the 'DataPath' String will now state the new location of the ClickView Library Data files.
Double click on the 'remoteDataPath' String and change the 'String Data' to the location of the Data Files on your Network Drive/NAS ( it must be the Full UNC Path i.e. \\NAS\ClickViewData\ )

Click 'OK' to continue and the 'remoteDataPath' String will now state the new location of the ClickView Library Data files.

Once these changes have been made you can close the registry editor

Step 2 - Adjusting ClickView Library Server Service

We will now need to adjust the 'Log On' settings used by the ClickView Library Server Service to allow accessing of the Network Drive/NAS device

On the system running the ClickView Library Server please go to 'Start > Run' and type in 'Services.msc' and click 'OK'

This will open up the Windows Services Management application & under this window you will see a Service there listed as 'ClickView Library Server', Please right click on this Service and select 'Properties' option from the menu.

At the top of the Properties page please select the 'Log On' tab. By Default the ClickView Server Service is set to use the 'Local System Account' only and this can cause problems when using a Network Drive/NAS as the Data storage location. For the Service to be able to access the Network Drive/NAS we will need to enter in a user account that has permission to access the Network Drive/NAS. Select the 'This Account' and enter the Username and Password of an account that has access to the Network Drive/NAS.

Once this is done click the 'OK' button to confirm the settings and you should get the following message if the Username and Password is correct. Click 'OK' to continue.

Another message will pop up mentioning that we will need to restart the Service for the Changes to take effect. Click 'OK' to this message to continue

Under the Services Management window select the 'ClickView Library Server' entry and once selected you will see an option in the top left hand corner called 'Restart'. Click on this Option and it will restart the ClickView Library Server Service enabling the changes made.

Note: If the Service fails to start please go back to 'Log On' page and confirm the user details have been entered correctly.

Please close the Windows Services Management utility and now the ClickView content will be accessible for viewing via the ClickView Player.

Please make sure that the users of ClickView Library Manager have full Read/Write privileges on the Network location you have now setup for the ClickView Library Server Data location.
